Dedicated to the loving memory of Barbara Patricia Baldeo

Barbara (Brenda) was born in Guyana in 1949 into a loving family of 10 siblings, Barbara being the 9th. Love, care, hard work, faith, respect and good manners were main components of the family. Barbara loved to nuture her siblings and everyone around her including younger school children to ensure they did their homework and were fed, she was beautiful inside and out. These loving caring selfless skills propelled her into nursing along with her intelligence at school passing her grades with flying colours.

Barbara made the courageous step to come to the UK in 1969 where she worked in many London hospitals and 2 in Glasgow to excel in her nursing career which was her passion.

In 1985 Barbara gave birth to her cherished son Rohan. He was her life and she was so proud of him, selflessy sacrificing her whole life and giving all her attention and love to allow him the best opportunity in life , educating him of her life experiences and values. Mum did this singlehandedly with no help or handouts from anyone and doing it working nights in her prestigious career.

Mayday Hospital employed Barbara in 1986 where she was a Sister Midwife with many qualifications until 2014 delivering 1000s of babies with her personalised care and attention. Barbara made many friends in her life being so amicable, warm and caring to others. She loved to joke and laugh with some wicked jokes and a radiant smile that would light up rooms.

Auntie Brenda loved her trips to the shops, M&S in particular, gardening, catching up on the news and gossip, sewing, baking and watching sports with Rohan not forgetting a good sing and dance to Gold Radio in the kitchen.

Barbara’s faith was undeniable and was a regular at St Chads Church.

Barbara’s character was truly unique, strong, fearless, resilient, diligent, intelligent, incredibly loving and caring keeping her life quiet with great privacy. Mum always kept going without showing any weakness or pain, nothing stopped her. Being so amicable and friendly Barbara made friends with everyone she met and cared about not only them but their families. Barbara loved to treat children and adults alike with chocolate and biscuits at every opportunity. Never would any of Rohan’s friends go hungry when Barbara was around.

She was loved by all she met and will be deeply missed on Earth but a part of her will remain with us all.

Helping Cancer Research was a cause Barbara cared about and would prefer donations than lots of flowers.

I can’t thank you enough Mum, please keep guiding me and stay by my side. I owe my life to you and will continue your legacy to make you proud.

RIP now Mum in the arms of our Lord Jesus Christ
